RGB vs CMYK

All about color.... both are modes of mixing color for design.

CMYK is for the print world and RGB is for the digital world.

Scanners, digital cameras, cell phones and computer monitors use red, green and blue (RGB) light to display color. RGB color mixing is an additive process. The digital world starts from blackness and adds varying intensities of red, green and blue light to create the digital color image we see on a screen. Common file formats might include jpeg and png images or animated, motion capture gifs.

Commercial printing presses print with cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK) ink called 4 color process printing. The mixing of CYMK colors is a subtractive process that gives more accurate results than RGB. CMYK images are created by combining actual ink colors during the color printing process. The best file formats for CYMK include PDFs, AI, and EPS.

We are happy to answer any questions and help with CMYK or RGB.
